He studied economics and mathematics in London and Cambridge. Initially he was employed by the Boston Consulting Group in Germany as a business consultant and worked on business strategy and organisational projects in the international finance, automotive and mechanical engineering sectors. In 1995 he moved to the Creditanstalt Investment Bank in Vienna took up the position of managing director for Austrian M&A activities. Here he was responsible for advising leading Austrian companies on expansion and activity portfolio strategies within Austria and the Central and Eastern European region. Parallel to this he assisted large and medium sized international companies develop strategies for the Austrian market.
 
In 1999 Alexej became a director at the Westdeutsche Landesbank where he was responsible for German high technology investment banking business in London and Düsseldorf. His responsibilities here included developing and implementing all large expansion and financial strategies for high technology enterprises. Then, in 2001, he changed to working as a consultant for primary middle-sized enterprises in Austria and Germany concerning private equity investment.
 
As an advisor to matrix consult GmbH, Alexej provides expertise in analysing the potential of enterprises and in developing strategies for their optimum application, be it through market/product positioning, restructuring of internal organisation and procedures, or human resources or business portfolio considerations. Along with his specific know-how in banking and financial services sectors as well as the automotive, mechanical engineering and technology sectors, he has access to an extensive network of people in these sectors in Western and Eastern Europe.
